Yosemite Cabins

All You Need To Know About Cabins In Yosemite.

There are Yosemite cabins in all areas of Yosemite National Park; in Yosemite Valley, Yosemite Village, and near the park entrances. Demand for cabins in Yosemite Valley is high and especially during the summer. Some cabins in the southern part of the park are open year round and cancellations are commonplace, so if you can’t find one keep trying.

Cabins in Yosemite are typically of the canvas roof variety and are the cheaper option for staying in the park. Hotels and lodges are the expensive options yet have all the facilities. There are scores of Yosemite cabin vacation rentals for rent in the Wawona area of Yosemite National Park, which lies down in the south near the southern entrance. They range from picture perfect log cabins to more modern-looking vacation homes and are usually completely furnished and include cooking facilities.

A selection of cabins in Yosemite

Curry Village: Located in Yosemite Valley, Curry Village is one of the main operations for accommodation in Yosemite National Park. It has a wide range of lodging options, from motel rooms to individual tent cabins. The latter are quite austere, cold, and lack facilities although are quite cheap. There is a swimming pool onsite which is ideal for those with families.

Housekeeping Camp: This nearby camp is another of the cheaper options in Yosemite. The cabins are again a tent-hybrid, with concrete walls and floors and a canvas roof. Facilities are not great here but you can build a fire and cook on it; a unique aspect in Yosemite Valley.

High Sierra Camps: This operation also has tent/cabins but has somewhat better facilities than the norm and is consequently more expensive. They are located in the backcountry of Yosemite and are especially popular with those on a horseback tours or hiking expeditions. The various camps are around a day’s hike away from one another and the Yosemite cabins themselves hold four people and are mixed gender. Hot showers are available in some of the cabins and a night’s stay includes breakfast and dinner. Booking ahead at High Sierra Camps is a must and is often by lottery.

White Wolf: This place has 24 tent cabins and four cabins proper and is off to the east of the Park beyond Tioga Pass. The tent cabins here are more authentic than most inside the park as they are wood frame over a wooden platform and come with wood-burning stoves.
