Wawona Hotel Yosemite
A great review of the Wawona Hotel Yosemite, including details on rooms, facilities, amenities, services, restaurants and bars.
Wawona Hotel Yosemite is one of Yosemite National Park’s best known hotels. It is an historic, Victorian-looking place that lies amid a stunning valley along Route 41 toward the southern entrance of the park. Wawona comes with over 100 rooms and a bunch of facilities and activities for the entire family and is reasonably priced.
Six charming buildings sat within Wawona Meadow make up Wawona Hotel Yosemite. It was put on the list of National Historic Landmarks in 1987 and features Clark Cottage as its oldest building (1876). Clark was the founder of Wawona and it was three years later that the potential was realized and the hotel proper was built (1879). Today, as then, it has a tranquil setting and a special atmosphere.
One of the pluses for many visitors to Wawona Hotel is that it has no telephones or TVs, yet there are plenty of verandas and other amenities to enjoy. Only around 50 percent of the rooms come with private baths, however, so you should double-check when booking - prices are roughly half without bath. A complimentary breakfast buffet comes with all rooms.
