Lodges & inns within Yosemite Valley
The Ahwahnee: An AAA Four-Diamond hotel and the top accommodation option for Yosemite lodges & inns. It is an elegant place right in the heart of Yosemite National Park and comes with fantastic amenities amid forests and cliff faces. It is possible to stay here year-round.
Yosemite Lodge at the Falls: Located right near to foot of Yosemite Falls, Yosemite Lodge is ideal for relaxing in relative luxury. It is not as well appointed or as high profile as the Ahwahnee yet is considerably cheaper and comes with a tour desk and bicycle rentals. The Mountain Room Restaurant & Lounge is a star attraction here.
Lodges & inns outside Yosemite Valley
Sunset Inn: Just two miles from the Big Oak Flat Gate (west entrance) on Highway 120, Sunset Inn features beautiful cabins a long way from the bustle of Yosemite Village and nowhere near any town. It is surrounded by pine trees in a meadow at 4,500 above sea level and has all-modern amenities.
White Wolf Lodge: Situated in a quiet spot off Tioga Road around 30 miles from Yosemite Valley, White Wolf Lodge is a good base for hikes to Lukens and Harden Lakes and has lush surroundings. White Wolf Lodge usually opens in early July through to mid September, but may close early due to the altitude.
Tuolumne Meadows Lodge: Located around 60 miles from Yosemite National Park in the Sierra Nevada proper, Tuolumne Meadows is one of the best Yosemite lodges & inns in the region. It sits in a sub-alpine meadow at 8,775 feet elevation and is an especially good base for day hikes. You can find Tuolumne Meadows on Tioga Road near Yosemite Park's eastern entrance on Highway 120 East.
There are also many towns and communities within reach of Yosemite National Park. Oakhurst is an hour away on Highway 41 and comes with many lodges & inns as well as grocery stores, restaurants and bars. Highway 140 is home to El Portal, Midpines and Mariposa and is one of the most popular roads to be on for accommodation near to the park. El portal is 40 minutes from Yosemite Valley and can be accessed by the park’s YARTS bus.
Groveland is on Highway 120, 40 miles from Yosemite Valley. It is 90 minutes by car from the park entrance and is especially popular with those coming from San Francisco. There are several historic hotels and lodges & inns in Groveland. Lee Vining is another popular center for accommodation on Highway 120. It goes past Mono Lake and is a two-hour drive from Yosemite Valley, yet gets cut off in the winter when Tioga Pass closes.
