There are several hotels and lodges in Yosemite National Park that offer Yosemite lodge family suites and options for activities in the park for kids are excellent. As with all other types of accommodation in Yosemite, booking a Yosemite lodge family suite ahead of time is a must. May through September is the busiest time.
A selection of family suites in Yosemite
The Ahwahnee: This is the top accommodation in Yosemite National Park. It has a high star rating and boasts one of the best settings of any lodge; overlooking as it does Half Dome and Glacier Point. Ahwahnee has fantastic décor and facilities as well as many types of room. Along with dozens of hotel-style rooms are 24 cottages that can sleep a family.
Yosemite Lodge at the Falls: Another of the best Yosemite lodges lies right near Yosemite Falls and also has topnotch facilities. There are well over 200 rooms here, including four family rooms. A Yosemite lodge family suite at Yosemite Lodge at the Falls comes with one king bed, two singles, a sofa sleeper, dining table, and a large TV with DVD player.
Wawona Hotel: One of the coziest hotels in Yosemite National Park, Wawona is a Victorian-looking place and is proud of its no TV/telephone policy in the rooms. Despite the peace and quite, there is a lot for kids to do with a swimming pool, tennis court, and expansive lawns, plus you can tailor yourself a suite. Most rooms are singular but they adjoin and can be opened out for those with families.
Curry Village: One of the most popular places in Yosemite Valley, owing to its relative cheapness and good spread of accommodation. Tent cabins are the mainstay accommodation choice in Curry Village, yet there are also singular cottages available that come with two double beds. Although not exactly a Yosemite lodge family suite, the Stoneman Cottages are a good money saver.
Options for picking up a family cabin exist in the High Sierra camps of Tuolumne Meadows and White Wolf Lodge. These campgrounds are right up in the north of the park along Tioga Pass Road and are cheaper than those in Yosemite Valley, yet are pretty austere and only open in the summer.
Yosemite lodge rentals
Another option for picking up a family suite in Yosemite is to go with a Yosemite rental. You can book these direct online and can often receive a discount if you book for several nights, or manage to snag a cancellation.
Scenic Wonders Yosemite Vacation Homes is one of the best Yosemite rental lodges. It comes with a couple of chateaux that can sleep whole families. Chateau Royal East and Chateau Royal West are the best of them; the latter of which comes with three bedrooms and extensive facilities. Yosemite Vacation Homes is another popular operation for picking up a Yosemite lodge family suite within the park. It is located in the beautiful Foresta area (west Yosemite) and comes with 11 cabins with two and three-bedrooms.
