Yosemite Lodging

All You Need To Know About Lodging In Yosemite.

Lodging options in Yosemite National Park are pretty extensive, ranging from full-blown lodges and hotels to more austere cabins and a slew of campgrounds. As well as these options within the park are many commercial Yosemite lodging operators with hotels, bed and breakfasts and condos outside the park.

Demand for lodges in Yosemite is very high year round, but particularly so May through September when reservations must be made months in advance. This is especially true for the Ahwahnee, which is the undisputable king of Yosemite lodging; a delectable five-star hotel/lodge in the best spot in the entire park.

A selection of Yosemite’s lodging

The Ahwahnee: A triple-A, Four-Diamond hotel featuring stunning rooms, rich décor and fine dining. The Ahwahnee faces the iconic Half Dome and Glacier Point and comes with a granite façade, almost making it a part of the environment. There are 99 hotel-style rooms here, along with 24 more pricey cottages, and amazing luxury throughout.

Yosemite Lodge at the Falls: Another of the best Yosemite lodging is situated right near Yosemite Falls, one of the park’s main highlights. It, too, has nice rooms, a fine restaurant and a tour/activity desk.

Wawona Hotel: Another high profile lodging option within the park limits, this place has over 100 rooms and can be found within the southern entrance. This Victorian-looking place has great facilities for families and is not far from the Badger Pass Ski Area, to boot.

White Wolf Lodge: Situated farther afield from Yosemite Village, White Wolf is one of the cheaper lodging options within the park. It mostly has cabins that have concrete walls and floors with canvas roofs. There is also a substantial campground here and it is a day hike from Harden and Lukens lakes. White Wolf Lodge is 30 miles from Yosemite Valley.

Tuolumne Meadows Lodge: This place is situated right up in High Sierra on the Tioga Pass Road and also comes with a string of canvas tent cabins and is well priced.

Lodges outside Yosemite

There are many towns and communities with Yosemite lodgings that serve Yosemite on all roads that lead to the park, including Highway 120 from San Francisco. Groveland is on this highway and comes with many lodges and B&Bs. It is 40 miles from Yosemite Valley. At the other end of Highway 120, at the eastern entrance and over the Tioga Pass, is Lee Vining.

Oakhurst is a popular town 20 miles to the south of the southern entrance on Highway 41 and has plenty of Yosemite lodging. Not far from here and to the west is the quaint mining town of Mariposa, while Fish Camp lies to the north. Other lodging options lie on Highway 140 at the towns of El Portal and Midpines.
